As a part of Vestas Power Solutions, the Control Engineering department is responsible for developing future wind turbine controller software and hardware but also loads and control solutions ensuring optimal performance of our products under all conditions. The responsibility spans from strategic development of new turbine technologies to delivering product level feasibility studies ensuring an optimal cost of energy. The department consists of highly skilled and experienced engineers and assumes full accountability of all aspects of the loads and control solution delivered to the wind turbine development projects


Responsibilities
Together with your colleagues you will be responsible for:

  • Development and tuning of control algorithms
  • Implementation of control algorithms in MATLAB/Simulink
  • Control performance data analysis in turbine/fleet level controller tuning and optimisation
  • Improve the technical aspects of control development for a specific product from feasibility state to fully verified product
  • Feasibility studies of new wind turbine products aiming at optimizing power, loads, and noise performance through innovative use of sensors, controllers and actuators
  • Verification on all levels, including software tests and field testing
  • Risk management activities such as risk assessments and failure mode and effect

Qualifications

You Should have:

  • MSc. or PhD. within Control Engineering or similar
  • 1-5 years of working experience within wind energy engineering or similar field
  • Experience in Control System Modelling, Controller Design, Controller Tuning & Controller Verification
  • Knowledge of creative mechanical and hydraulic systems
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink
  • Understanding how a project is run from a technical point of view

You may have:

  • Knowledge of aerodynamics and aero-elasticity, as well as Power generation concepts
  • Coding experience in MATLAB Scripting / C / C# / C++ / Python / Bash etc
  • Experience with Mathworks Auto Code generation toolchain (RTW, MATLAB coder, Simulink Coder etc)
  • Experience with software development tools e.g. Git (or similar Version Control Systems), Visure IRQA / IBM DOORS (or similar Requirements Definition and Management tools) etc
